Please do not send passwords. Please also do not send label artwork: Washa does not accept artwork for a guided pilot until a written pilot agreement has been finalized and we have sent you instructions for sending it.
Understanding results
Each result shows an overall outcome and, for each field, the application value, what was read from the label, and the reason.
- Fail: the label was read and shows something different from the application details.
- Needs Review: something could not be confirmed automatically, for example text that could not be found or read clearly. A person should check it. Needs Review is common, especially with photographs, low-resolution or decorative artwork and some font styles; clean, flat digital artwork gives the most complete results.
- Pass: the items that were checked match the application details. Items not checked are listed with every result.
What is checked today (distilled spirits only)
- Brand name, class/type, alcohol content, net contents, producer or bottler name and address, and country of origin for imports.
- The government health warning statement: its wording, and its capitalization and bold heading, where the image allows them to be measured.
What is not checked
- Type size, legibility and contrast judgments, and placement.
- Statements not in the application details.
- Formula requirements and state requirements.
- Wine and malt beverage rules.

Washa Beverage Label Precheck is a pre-submission screening aid for professionals. It is not legal advice, a compliance certification or a determination by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), and it does not guarantee label approval. Automated reading can miss a discrepancy or report one that is not there; your qualified reviewer remains responsible for every filing decision.
The web application does not keep label images or results, so we cannot look up a past check. If you need help with a previous check, describe the issue and provide the relevant report or reference number, if available. Please do not email label artwork or confidential application materials unless we have provided appropriate instructions for sharing them.
